The Victory Home:
Radio
The
entertainment industry did its part in the war effort. Radio programs
tried to strengthen patriotism and encourage the spirit of sacrifice,
while providing a welcome distraction from stress and fear. President
Franklin D. Roosevelt proved a
potent symbol of strength and comfort, speaking to the country in his
weekly Fireside Chats.
