The Victory Home:
Food
Food
and its availability became a major theme of home front life. Food was
needed to feed our soldiers, but it was also needed to supply our
allies, who had already been fighting for several years. Rationing was
begun to assure fair access to essentials, but shortages still
prevailed. Families were urged to
grow as much of their own food as possible, to free up supplies for
others.
